Pumpkin Dog Treats Recipe
Making your own dog treats is a great way to save money while keeping your pets healthy. This is the time of year when you can get a good deal on canned pumpkin. I like to make these small to use as training treats. My dogs love them!
Ingredients:
15 oz can of pure pumpkin (no added spices)
3/4 cup cream of wheat - uncooked
1/2 cup dry powdered milk
15 oz can of pure pumpkin (no added spices)
3/4 cup cream of wheat - uncooked
1/2 cup dry powdered milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 300 F.
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Drop small spoonfuls (about 1/2 tsp) onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Baker's Notes:
Store in the refrigerator for best freshness. You can try using cream of rice or ground oatmeal instead of cream of wheat. Pumpkin is a great source of beta carotene and vitamins C and E. These vitamins help to lower cancer risk, cataracts and heart disease.
